Schools have generally earned our faith and trust. We may well have a tendency to disbelieve what seem like wild stories or isolated cases that point to extreme motives of a destructive ideology or its practitioners.
We all attended a school and most had a good relationship with our teachers. Some may have had a profound effect on your life. It is a natural and decent tendency to trust what our educators are doing. With our longstanding trust we may be skeptical or simply reject claims of a radical and destructive agenda infiltrating our schools. To most parents, it sounds good that schools are pursuing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programming.
Unfortunately, the radical trend is national in scope and more “over-the-top” than an overwhelming majority of Americans of all backgrounds should expect. Here we present an excerpt from a workshop at the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) conference. The NAIS sets standards for more than 1,600 independent schools in the U.S., driving their missions and influencing many school policies. The conference is NAIS’s flagship annual event for disseminating DEI with more than 6,000 DEI practitioners, educators and administrators attending this year. Intended as “professional development” and not meant for the public, this workshop reveals the unfiltered lessons delivered to our teachers. This material has been leaked by concerned educators.
In this video we observe the “experts” in Critical Social Justice at work – the highly compensated “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Consultants.” They speak in everyday words but give them new meanings. These “experts” are certain that they are more sensitive than you are.
In this manner, teachers or kids are taught to fear sharing an original thought. Language, especially “wrong words” has been ratcheted up.
Here we learn a new meaning of the word “violence.”
This video exemplifies a few concepts we hope you will learn about in other articles on the B4MS website.
Two current articles on B4MS already discuss how common words have new meanings. The manipulation of language is a foundational tool of DEI activists. Its practitioners use familiar words but redefine them to fit their agenda.
Excerpt from: The Language of Social Justice – An Introduction
On Language:
Today, a movement of fundamentalist ideology is co-opting our very language. These scholar-activist leaders begin using everyday words differently from the rest of us. It is a specialized language using words that people assume, incorrectly, that they understand. This heretofore radical progressive fringe represents a wholly different culture, embedded within our own, with the intent of superseding and devouring the original definitions.
Excerpts from: Three Central Features of Critical Theory
On Language:
The Critical Theorists give new meanings to commonplace words that until recently we thought we understood. Controlling language is a well-established tool of the Marxists. With shifts in meaning, we may easily become complicit, albeit unintentionally or unknowingly, in promoting their agenda.
On Turning Over Curriculum to the “Experts”
You also have a problem if you think that a parent or educator can undertake these tasks without the “right” technical advice, and without being subject to special methods and criteria. Instead, social scientists have done this work for you. They can “properly” advise you on fitting conditions for human relations.
In a future article, B4MS will provide another example, this time from Mariemont Schools Academy Days.
