Author’s Overview: IJEOMA: My book is Mediocre: A Dangerous Legacy of White Male America. And it is somewhat self-explanatory in the title. But we are looking at 150 to 200 years of history around the creation of violent white male identity in America. I know this sounds like building this evil image of white men, but I’m talking about whiteness as a structure, white maleness as a structure. It’s important to recognize the reality, the harsh reality that it is, and what it has cost all of us, regardless of race or gender or ethnicity.
Reader’s Take: This book is written by a Social Justice Warrior and big supporter of the Marxist BLM movement. The entire book is about blaming all of America’s problems on white men. Rather than focus on individuals in America’s past, she focuses on the white Eurocentric race as being the problem. America has clearly come a long way in how blacks, women, and minorities civil rights have improved since the country was founded, however, you would not know that after reading this book. There is no discussion of the greatness of America, the positive ideals of the Western and Judeo-Christian culture, or the positive impact on the freedoms in America and how it has been promoted throughout the world. If reading this book as a “white” high school student, and if taken seriously, one would disown their father, grandfather, and all “white” men.
